Course Description: This course comprises of the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing.
You will be introduced to evidence-based reading passages which are composed of literature, historical documents, social and natural sciences. Then you will be able to read passages and comprehend what you have read and learned by selecting the correct answers from multiple choice questions.
There will also be the writing and language section where you will acquire grammar, vocabulary and editing skills. From this you will know all the parts of speech and be able to demonstrate effective and correct written sentences, phrases and clauses. Your vocabulary will be improved by the usage of appropriate words and by knowing the meaning, context, connotations, denotations and the origin of the words. Knowledge gained from grammar and vocabulary will be used to edit and spot errors in writing, reading and speaking.
You will also learn how to write an essay through writing effective topic sentences, paragraphs, organizing main ideas with supporting details, transitions, grammar, punctuations, paraphrasing and quotations. You will explain how persuasive arguments are built up by authors in essays and will learn the different types of writing.
